Published on 28 October 2026. The Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 3.75 to 4 percent. This decision supports the Federal Reserve's dual mandate. Economic activity is expanding at a strong pace, with domestic spending resilient and productivity growth robust. Job gains have kept pace with the workforce, and the unemployment rate has remained stable. However, inflation remains elevated, and the Committee will continue to monitor the situation to ensure a timely return to its 2 percent inflation goal. Voting against the decision were Lisa D. Cook and Beth M. Hammack, who preferred a 0.25 percentage point increase.
